Fragments. The Giant Cylinder (95h). Cedar and Saffron Scent
Fragments are part of something larger. A fragment sparks the imagination because the mind wants to conjure up the whole. While hiking through forgotten and abandoned places, I’ve noticed that the passage of time likes to create interesting patterns. One such moment of patterns and the feelings I experienced at the Liepna Manor brewery in the Alūksne region is captured in the collection: "Fragments." I created this collection together with Elīna Muceniece. The foundation of all the vessels is the white concrete used in classic collections, enriched with stones and wood fragments from Liepna, fine gravel, pebbles, and a layer of rust.
The giant cylinder, with its robust form and simultaneously refined purity of shape, will lend a space an accent of solidity and strength, imbued with an aura of ancient charm and the mystery of a lost world. It fits perfectly into an interior as an eye-catching and self-sufficient decorative piece. The natural soy wax candle with a cedar and saffron scent will fill the room with a bittersweet and refreshingly crisp fragrance.
As the candle burns, the concrete cylinder warms up, ensuring the candle always burns completely, leaving no soy residue on the cylinder’s walls. Once the candle has burned out, the cylinder can safely hold any other candle, or, after washing the vessel, it can be repurposed as an interior item and used according to your preference.
The cylinder has an outer diameter of 17 cm, a height of 14–16 cm, a soy wax weight of 900 g, a total candle weight of 3100 g, and a burning time of 95 hours. Design authors: Elīna Muceniece and Kārlis Anitens.
